Design a piece of jewellery, silverware or smallwork that has more than one function or purpose, free form shapes and colour should feature in your design. Your proposal needs to demonstrate it can be successfully manufactured, this is part of the judging criteria. Therefore, you must give clear/explicit details of how it could be fabricated and the various processes you would choose to use. This includes how the various colours in your design are to be added, whether through the use of gemstones, enamels or some other process, you are free to choose.

We want you to push the boundaries of manufacturing and designing with CAD. You must also indicate within your online application which CAD programme/s you have used and the drawings. It is very important to convey sufficient information to help the judging panel about creating and making your design.

DIAMOND RING DESIGN (Sponsored by Yves Frey Diamonds)

This brand-new Patron Special Award by Yves Frey Diamonds, focuses on the unique beauty and qualities of natural coloured Diamonds. Yves Frey seeks to work in partnership with the winner of his Award through providing, featuring and promoting a coloured diamond in a creative design for a Ring.

You are invited to design a fine jewellery Ring featuring a coloured yellow diamond as its central gemstone and attraction. This is a cushion shape, graded by the GIA natural fancy yellow VS1, weighing 1.51cts. Your design will need to include other complimentary gemstones to enhance the beauty of the yellow diamond, but the choice is entirely yours as to what and how many gems you incorporate and propose in your design.

Use a theme of your choice or any subject matter that inspires you to create a precious diamond Ring of distinction in platinum, 18ct gold or combinations of both. Judges will be looking for creative ideas, individuality, impact and excellent utilisation of the fancy yellow diamond.
